PPS Revision Notice #2017-027

PPS 21.16, Issue 14 - Aircraft Weather/Pressure Sealing
     Summary of Changes:

Specified to not use PR-1436G sealant. Where PR-1436G E-2 or DHMS S3.06 Type I Class E sealants are specified on the engineering drawing, use P/S 870 C80 sealant for all fay sealing and all other applications contact Liaison Engineering.

Specified for fay sealing applications, if the engineering drawing specifies DHMS S3.06 sealant (i.e., no type or class is specified), use P/S 870 C80 sealant to DHMS S3.06 Type I Class C sealant.

PPS 21.20, Issue 31 - Mixing and Handling Two-Part Sealants
    Summary of Changes:

Specified to not use PR-1436G sealant. For fay sealing applications, DHMS S3.06 Type I Class E sealant is replaced by DHMS S3.06 Type I Class C sealant. For all other sealing applications, contact Liaison Engineering.

Removed reference to cancelled Bombardier Toronto Quality QA Form #17.

PPS 21.21, Issue 26 - General Sealing Practices
     Summary of Changes:

Specified to not use PR-1436G sealant. Where PR-1436G E-2 or DHMS S3.06 Type I Class E sealants are specified on the engineering drawing, use P/S 870 C-80 sealant for all fay sealing and for all other sealing applications, contact Liaison Engineering.

Specified for fay sealing applications, if the engineering drawing specifies DHMS S3.06 sealant (i.e., no type or class is specified), use P/S 870 C80 sealant to DHMS S3.06 Type I Class C sealant.

Specified this PPS is categorized as a controlled special process according to PPS 13.39.

PPS 31.04, Issue 26 - Degreasing Processes
Summary of Changes:

Deleted trichloroethylene as an option for vapour degreasing.

Deleted reference to QDI-09-02.

PPS 31.07, Issue 15 - Cleaning and Stripping of Painted Surfaces
Summary of Changes:

Specified 3M TRI-M-ITE as an example of an acceptable abrasive paper.

Specified 3M #425 as an example of an acceptable aluminum foil tape.

Specified to use protective wrapping material and specified neutral Kraft paper as an acceptable example.

Deleted the following paint strippers due to REACH and EPA regulations.

Manual paint stripper, DHMS S5.03 Grade 1.

Manual paint stripper, Cee-Bee A-202.

Manual paint stirpper, Turco 5351-THICK.

Immersion paint stripper, Turco 5351-THIN.
