PPS Revision Notice #2018-012
PPS 23.02, Issue 35 - Protective Treatment and DecorativeSummary of Changes:
- Specified detail for finish code A4.
- Specified that A5 finish code is withdrawn and where A5 is specified on the engineering drawing, use A1.
- For finish code F16, deleted Mastinox 6856K (chromated)
- Added material specification, DHMS C4.11 for finish code F32.
- Specified detail for finish code F46.
PPS 32.03, Issue 26 - Chromic Acid Anodizing (A1)Summary of Changes:
- Deleted MIL-DTL-5541 from Reference section.
- Clarified that it is only acceptable to use CAA procedure specified in BAPS 160-010 as an alternate approve process to PPS 32.03 and not any other process even as authorized through BAPS 160-010.
- Deleted option of dilute chromate sealing bath and sodium dichromate sealing bath. Specified use of only the hot de-ionized water sealing bath.
- Added to rinse off CAA bath solution prior to visual inspection of parts.
- Wherever air is utilized (e.g., drying of parts), specified compressed air meeting BAERD GEN-023.
- Clarified protection of parts (i.e., wrap in neutral Kraft paper and seal in polyethylene plastic bags).
- Revised test specimen description for the following testing (deleted MIL reference): Coating weight; Corrosion Resistance; and Paint Adhesion.
- Added new section, Disposal of Chemical Wastes.
PPS 33.01, Issue 19 - Cadmium Plating (E1)Summary of Changes:
- Specified two types of thickness gauge depending on the base material to be measured.
- Specified this PPS is categorized as a Controlled Critical Process.
- Specified a standard and extended bright dip solution frequency testing.
- Specified adhesion testing procedure to the whole adhesion testing section (re: Table II).
- Revised personnel requirements wording.
